The days can seem long, but....

...the months go by so fast. Diesel is already one month I can hardly believe it.

Trust me cow I feel your pain!

Six days before I had Diesel, Lexi's class and actually all of Whatcom County's (it seemed like) 1st graders went to the fairgrounds for a field trip put on by the Dairy Farmers of Washington. Even though I have lived in Lynden all my life and thought I knew all there was to know about cows and farms, I actually learned a lot of interesting things. It kept all the 7 year olds entertained as well and we got a cup of chocolate milk (can't beat that). One thing I didn't know was that when a calf is born they use a special instrument to put a magnet in their stomach, so if they ever somehow eat a nail or a screw that got into the hay it will stick to the magnet instead of going through their digestive tract, so when the cow dies you can get the magnet out and see all that they ate which is now stuck to the magnet. It was kind of funny to learn that cows (especially mama cows) are suppose to drink 50 gallons of water every day. I guess we missed that one didn't we Jenny Miller :) A few years ago we shared some very expensive cows :) with the Millers, who were our neighbors at the time before they so rudely moved to Louisiana, anyway our 5 cows together never got near 50 gallons of water everyday. At the end of the field trip we got to meet a cow who was due to have a baby the following week. Everyone kind of turned to me and smiled because apparently this cow and I had a lot in common. I wonder if her calf is sleeping through the night yet.

Ok so I might be a bit of a clean freak, but what can I say. My sister and my mom got me a mommy gift for having a baby. I have wanted a steam mop for quite some time (actually ever since I saw the infomercial on them while flipping through channels) and I could never talk Wynden into it. This is what they got me. I love it. It is so easy and light weight. For anyone who hates to mop, but loves a clean floor (I know Lydia loves a clean floor) this steam mop is perfect. The best thing about it is that it is quick. Costco carries them the cheapest. I highly recommend them :)

Everyone laughs, so she thinks that she is funny. I wonder how long it will last.

Suzanne did you leave your eyeliner here?

People always talk about the terrible twos and I have to admit that I think that the terrible comes out more in the threes. For instance I think my sister-in-law, Suzanne might have left her eyeliner here or else I have no idea whose it is. Karlee was in the bathroom with me when I was getting ready. I let her use my blush brush, eye shadow brush, and my eyelash curler because no harm can be done with those. I left the bathroom and told her to put them back in the bag when she was done. I was doing something and finally when I saw her again she had the same eyebrows that Elaine on Seinfeld put on Uncle Leo, anyway they looked rather scary. She told Grandma Susan that I said she could do this :) Later I found upstairs an eyeliner pencil that does not belong to me, but was the same color found on Karlee's face. Grandma Susan thought she actually did a good job staying on the eyebrows. Karlee definitely can give me a run for my money, but on the other hand she can make me laugh so hard. The other day she was just full of cuteness. My sister told her she was being a smarty pants and she looks down at her jeans and says so seriously "No" while shaking her head, as if her pants were actually smart. She is really into answering the phone lately, which actually with a new baby around can be kind of helpful when I am not able to get up to answer it. Anyway one day, she answered first while I just had the other phone waiting and listening for who it was. Well no one was on the line and Karlee just kept saying "hello" I finally said "I think they hung up Karlee" and she said "who is this?" and I said "it's mom" and then I hung up. I came out of my bedroom to her holding the phone and looking very confused, she says "there's no one there anymore" and I say "I know they hung up" and she says "they said their name was mom" Anyway it's times like these that make up for the times that she isn't so cute :) I sure do love my Karlee.

Have you ever seen such big hands on a newborn??

Diesel was almost nine pounds - crazy little guy for being so big and not wanting to come out :) I think most of his weight comes from his length which was 22 1/2 inches because he is not a chubby looking baby at all, but his hands are huge!!

He's a keeper!

It has been one week since I had Diesel and things are back to normal. By normal I mean Wynden is feeling better and the kids are back to their normal routine. The night we had Diesel Wynden started getting sick and was very sick until Friday. We hardly saw him the first two days home from the hospital because he was upstairs trying to keep his sickness away from the baby.

Labor seemed to go a little quicker with this one once my water got broke. It wasn't fun, but it wasn't too bad. I couldn't stop saying "I am so glad that is over!" He is a really good baby though. At first he was a little fussy and I thought uh oh, but then he calmed right down (my milk came in and he decided to take a binky) and is just as easy as my others (I do realize that he is only one week, so there is still time for him to make me change my mind). Anyway I love having a baby around the house again even though a lot of people still consider Hallie at 21 months to be a baby. If you look real closely at the picture of me holding Diesel you can see that his lips were very swollen when he was first born.
