3 on 3 raspberry festival

It was a sad weekend for sports a few weeks ago. The US Women's soccer lost to Japan (after beating them twice before), Lexi lost in the championship game in a 3 on 3 tournament, and my team lost in the championship game of the women's division of the same tournament (after beating the team twice that day already).

Lynden has a raspberry festival once a year. They close the front street and it is set up with vendors and basketball hoops. This year we decided to participate (it has been a few years since I got a team together). Hunter and Josh played all day Friday with the YMCA 3 on 3 (no score is kept with the Y) then Lexi and I started play on Friday night. We both won. Saturday started bright and early with games. Lexi and I both won again (there were only 3 teams in my division, so now we had beat them both, but we had to play each team twice and then the championship game). Then in my second game our fourth player (the only sub) got hurt right away. We won that game, but were definitely getting tired. Our fourth game we won in overtime, now we had beat both teams twice, we were hopeful that the team in second place wouldn't want to play again and just declare us the champions, but being competitive Lynden girls they chose to play again (they could see without a sub that we were more tired than they were) and they beat us. Lexi played awesome and had two really close games that they won. They made it to the championship against a really good Lynden Christian girls team that plays together on AAU (not making excuses or anything) needless to say they beat us, but I was so proud of Lexi and how well she played.

Happy Birthday Hallie!

Hallie is four today. She has been so feisty lately. When we were at Whistler her cousin Katelyn was going to give her a piggyback ride and right after Hallie got up on her back Katelyn slipped and they both went tumbling down. Neither were hurt, but right after Hallie got her bearings she slapped Katelyn across the face.

She can be so sweet that it makes you forget how feisty she can be. She still loves her blanket and her thumb. She loves to cuddle. She loves to smell things whether it is soap, lotion, or lip gloss. Her best friend is Karlee and I know it is going to be weird for both of them to be in separate places this year as far as school goes, but hopefully their time together will be extra special.

Happy Birthday Hallie we love you.

A Whistler Getaway

Last week we went to Whistler for a few days. We had a really good time with some of Wynden's family. We ate way too much, went swimming, walked around, and rode the gondolas, which was pretty scary, but the view was great. We saw 13 bears while we were there. The first night we went to dinner at the Spaghetti Factory and I walked up to the hostess to say how many people as I added everyone up in my head I told her 18. She then asked how many kids menus and I said 11. It's funny because everyone's response was the same - pure shock of kid adult ratio. Whether it's my family or Wynden's we just have a lot of people so we don't ever think anything of it where as other people think we're crazy. Maybe they have point - dinner was pretty crazy that night.

Oh What Do You Do In The Summertime When All It Does Is Rain

You do it anyway. Jumping on the tramponline and into a pool in the rain sounds fun to me :) They have been out there for almost two hours....Back and forth from the hot tub to the pool. Oh to be young again.

Happy Birthday Hunter!

Today Hunter is 8. Hunter has had a great year. He is a funny kid. He can drive his sisters crazy, but cares so much for them when they are hurt or upset. He is a really good kid. He loves to talk and ask questions. He really thinks things through and if you get him alone he will talk your ear off. He loves working with his dad around the house and especially doing things for the animals. Love you Hunter Happy Birthday!!!

Mission Impossible

Ever try to get five crazy kids to take a good picture. There's Lexi, who being the oldest should be able to take a good picture every time, not so much for some reason, Hunter just can't sit still ever, you have about one try with him, he always has to be doing some crazy pose, Karlee is trying to show all her teeth that are missing with her smile, so it is totally weird looking, Hallie usually looks very cute with what she is doing as long as you can get her to take her thumb out of her mouth, Diesel same issue as Hunter just has a hard time sitting still and looking at the camera. I still am crazy about them though. They have been really good this summer so far...

Casey Anthony acquitted of murder charges

Not guilty?....I love 48 hours mystery, it's on on Saturday nights. They present the real life murder, show the evidence, and then the trial. Usually on most it is obvious they were guilty, but on some I'm like I just don't know. I thought I knew with this one. 48 hours did a show on Casey Anthony, I hadn't really followed this case until it was on the show 3 months ago. After they presented the evidence and said they'd do another show after the trial I was like she is so guilty.

Isn't it crazy how some things we'll just never know exactly what happened. I wish for instance in this case because she can never be tried for the same crime again that she would just put everyone's mind at ease and write a best seller telling it all. She would make millions if she did.

I get why they said she is not guilty of first degree murder because they did not explain exactly how Caylee died, but I think manslaughter would have been the right sentence for this careless mother.

guilty or not guilty what do you think?

Isn't it funny...

how kids want the darnedest things. For instance braces, glasses, and broken bones so they can have a cast for everyone to sign top their list. Right now Lexi wants all of them especially a broken arm like one of her friends. I'm like we really don't give you enough attention that you feel like that is the route you would want to go to get more. She will have braces within the next year though and then she will learn that they are not so glamorous as they rip the flesh right off her lips.
