Cherish Every Moment
While I was blog stocking the other day (Wynden asked me not too long ago after I told him a story that I had read on someone's blog, how did you find their blog and I said oh honey if you have one blog address you can play for hours), I read something that I really need reminding of all the time and she put it so perfectly. Basically what it talked about was that her daughter is a clutter bug (I believe I have four clutter bugs here) she saves everything and leaves little messes everywhere. As she was cleaning up one morning, after her daughter had left for school, this particular mom was of course angry and irritated, but realized that these messes and clutter won't be around forever, but one day will be in a different state possibly at school or in a home of her own. The big picture is that when these messes that we frantically clean up all day long or the laundry that we continually fold and put away for our children when this stops and if we don't have these things to do then this means that they are no longer living with us. So if our houses are free of clutter they will be free of little hand prints and little hugs and cuddles and of our children who grew up so fast that we didn't stop to enjoy it, but instead beat ourselves up trying to keep a perfectly clean house. So I will try to laugh more at the clutter and enjoy what I find that they have chosen to hide under their beds instead of being mad about it. I love my kids and with any kid comes some sort of mess...every single day and I am ok with that.

Isn't it Crazy...
...when you give your baby a haircut, afterwards they look like a little boy. My sister gave Diesel a haircut yesterday and he sat still like an angel, which is rare for my kid's first cut. The sucker definitely helped. He looks so grow up now it makes me a little sad. On another note, Hunter lost another tooth the other day. He was at school and playing freeze tag at recess when another kid bumped into his mouth. I still don't quite understand this part of the story, but something like a rock somehow got into Hunter's hand I think when he opened his mouth after being bumped it must have fallen into his hand as he put his hand up as a reaction to being hurt. He then throws the rock not sure how it got in his hand in the first place. After a short moment, he realized that he had a new hole in his mouth and that "rock" was his tooth. A girl classmate was standing nearby and he told her he just lost his tooth and he threw it thinking it was a rock. The cute little girl looked around for him and found him his tooth.

I scrapbooked last week
What does this mean!?!? It means I have moved to an easier time in my life. I feel like we are onto a new stage. The milk parlor has officially closed over here at the Holman's Ranch with the mama cow currently being cut and wrapped and Diesel is on a bottle. I haven't had time to scrapbook or even really wanted to since before Diesel was born. Diesel is on a nice nap schedule now and he will play with toys for a little bit. Hallie is a little more active now and doesn't just want to sit in the chair and have me hold her all day. It's interesting as we become mothers how crazy our perception of having a child will be. I wasn't too far off with having three sisters who have had kids since I was in the 7Th grade. I would watch and learn. I hated the schedule thing as I watched my oldest sister with her youngest bound and determined to not let him eat until it was time as he sat there crying and fussing for the next half hour all the while we were all thinking "just give him the darn bottle already!!" I did learn a lot, but nothing will ever completely prepare you for what it will be like to be a mother. I couldn't wait to dress them in cute clothes I will admit. It took me awhile to get into mother mode and out of me mode, Lexi was definitely a test run. I do enjoy being a mother, I couldn't imagine doing anything better or more fullfilling with my life right now. As I become less selfish, I know I become a better mother.

Memories
While we were in Canada, I was reminded of a funny incident that happened while we went on a road trip to Montana about 10 years ago. We had driven all night and then slept in the car for a while when we got there because Wynden is so cheap they were going to charge us for checking in early and he wasn't about to pay any extra, so instead we camped out at 5:00 am in our little Honda Civic with the temperature outside roughly 10 degrees out. So when we could finally check in we wanted to go swimming (we love to swim) and rinse off then go eat somewhere. We were getting ready in the room and Wynden had taken his clothes off and was sitting on the bed about to put his swimming suit on when in walks the housekeeper, much to her surprise there were people in the room she still thought was vacant. I was fine because I had my swimming suit on already. Now if you know Wynden you might know that he is way too comfortable with his body. He didn't really care that this woman had seen him naked, he even claims that she didn't leave very quickly, but got a good look before she apologized and left. I make sure to always do the deadbolt whenever I'm in a hotel room from now on of course Wynden could care less.
Weekend Update
Last Thursday, Wynden, Diesel and myself headed north to...Calgary, not the Olympics. Anyway we went to a wedding there. A friend of the Holman family's daughter was getting married, so Wynden thought it would be nice to go. We originally were going to take all the kids and drive, then we decided to take just Diesel and drive, but then when we saw a cheap flight out of Abbotsford we couldn't pass up the hour long plane ride compared to probably 14 hours in the car. It was fun. It was cold though, very cold. So what does it mean to be gone for five days for me: a lot of clothes to wash, I mean a lot. 5 days x 7 people = an insane amount of time washing, folding, and putting away. A slight weight gain. Tired kids. Our kids never sleep the same when we are gone, so it usually takes a few days to get them right on track. Last night Hunter was up and joined us in our bed (oh how I missed being kicked all night by a third party), Hallie was up earlier than normal, and Diesel was up three times (bad habits formed in hotel room sleeping). Oh and the best part of last night was the cat, who I've mentioned before, that cries like a baby outside on our patio. I wake up thinking its Hallie and soon discover that it is the most idiotic cat who is proclaiming its love and longing for our already spayed cat, Belle. It is that time of year where all the male cats come out of the woodwork to fight, cry, and spray everywhere around our house to mark there territory for the female cat that lives outside our home. These male cats are the best of the best for it only takes them three months to figure out that they will get nowhere with this female cat. Hunter got a bebe gun for his birthday and I am firing away. I will not stand for this crying business no longer. I am sure they are all scared. Other than that we are good and glad to be home. I am hoping that our next adventure will take us somewhere tropical, one can only hope.

I don't even know a title for this
A few weeks ago...
Wynden: "I called the butcher they can't butcher the mama cow for a few weeks."
Me: "I feel bad about this. That baby is still nursing. I don't think I'll be able to eat the meat. This is so mean" (something like that)
Wynden: "Jason is going to take the baby, she'll be fine. She shouldn't be nursing anymore anyway"
Me: "I still feel bad about killing that cow" (I eat meat all the time just never our own)
One week before the murder day...
Wynden: "The butcher called and they can do it a week from today"
Me: "OK, I still feel bad about it"
The day before dooms day...
Wynden: "I feel bad that I can't be here when they come to butcher the cow tomorrow"
Me: "What...why would you need to be here?" (me thinking they pick up the cow and take her to her death)
Wynden: "Well they kill her here first then they take her away."
Me: "ARE YOU KIDDING ME"
Tuesday morning last week was pretty gross here on the Holman ranch. The truck showed up at 8:00 sharp (right around chaotic time around here). Wynden told me that they would shoot her to kill her. I was upstairs and my interest got the best of me since I had not heard a gun shot yet. When I looked out the window, I learned they do not shoot them and it is very ugly what they do do and I thought in my head I am not going to forget that sight for a long time, of course that was before I saw what they did a little later. The kids were very interested and since she died right out our front door that has no blinds in it (the only one in the whole house) they couldn't stay away either. Hunter was especially interested and no matter how hard I tried they kept going back to watch. They would eat a little breakfast then go look, go back eat a little more and go back. I could hardly stomach it and here they are eating during it. Karlee was giving a play by play for those of us who chose not to watch. Lexi was not into it at all. She was the only one that had school that day so she closed her eyes as we walked just a few feet from the dead cow hanging upside down with it legs tied together to the bus. For those of you who have never been through this either these guys get this cow ready for the butcher to do his work, so they took care of a lot of stuff here before she went to the actual butcher, who cuts her into what we buy at the grocery store (maybe that gives you a better picture of what we witnessed). The guys came to get the baby the same day, but couldn't get her to cooperate (she runs through any fence and is a bit of a spaz) One of the guys was so stressed out after trying to catch her he had a smoke and he doesn't smoke. Anyway I think that next time I will not stay home for the slaying if we ever do this again.

Notice Any Resemblance

One night when we were all recovering from the flu we decided to PPV the movie UP. Hunter was so excited he said "if we watch that movie I will pull out my front tooth" Now you see, his tooth has been barely hanging there for quite some time, so I was very excited that he decided to do this. A few hours passed and it was movie time. If you've ever seen the movie UP you'll remember the little girl at the beginning of the movie that was in the abandoned house. When she first opens her mouth to talk you notice she is missing a tooth, the very tooth Hunter promised to pull out, which reminded all of us what Hunter had said. After the movie, Hunter did pull out his tooth and after it stopped bleeding I kind of think that Hunter looks a little like the girl, Ellie on the movie. Maybe that will be his facebook look-a-like celebrity.

Mondays...
Monday mornings are probably the worst part of the week for me. It is hard to get back into routine after only two days off. Karlee never cooperates on Monday mornings (does she ever??). I try to control the inner beast in me, but if it is going to come out Monday mornings are the perfect time. I did pretty good today even though Karlee took off her socks after I put them on her, claimed her shirt was too cold and then did not like the long sleeve shirt I put under it, and finally her ponytail hurt too much. We are never ready for Cheryl when she comes to pick Karlee up for preschool, you can't say that I don't try though. I think Cheryl probably enjoys the free entertainment though :) Amanda and her were betting today if Karlee would have her clothes on and be grumpy or still be naked and grumpy..I think Amanda won. Wynden decided to take the kids to school today...big mistake. Hunter about has a heart attack worrying about getting there late, which let's face it Wynden never gets me anywhere on time either. He was starting to panic and I'm like "Hunter you have 25 minutes still." I told him "dad is almost ready." Then he says, "Well dad takes forever doing his hair and make-up". And that is how I made it through this morning, I am still laughing.
