The youngest child usually becomes overly ambitous and highly competitive. Youngest children usually are the ones who make big changes to the world as a result of their extreme ambition and their strong fighting spirit.

Middle children do exactly the opposite of that older sibling. Middle children also notice that their younger sibling naturally tends to get a lot of attention from everyone in the family, and the middle child tries to distinguish herself from that sibling, too. What this results in is a very individualized person who has taken great pains to make himself or herself different from other siblings. However, the middle child personality never really feels that he's getting quite the attention he deserves from the people in his family.

Clearly, firstborns are natural leaders. They also tend to be reliable,
conscientious and perfectionists who don't like surprises. Although, firstborns
are typically aggressive, many are also compliant people pleasers. They are
model children who have a strong need for approval from anyone in charge.

Pregnancy:
1st baby: You begin wearing maternity clothes as soon as your OB/GYN confirms your pregnancy.
2nd baby: You wear your regular clothes for as long as possible.
3rd baby: Your maternity clothes ARE your regular clothes.

Preparing for the Birth:
1st baby: You practice your breathing religiously.

The Layette:
1st baby: You pre-wash newborn's clothes, color-coordinate them, and fold them neatly in the baby's little bureau.
2nd baby: You check to make sure that the clothes are clean and discard only the ones with the darkest stains.

Worries:
1st baby: At the first sign of distress--a whimper, a frown--you pick up the baby.
2nd baby: You pick the baby up when her wails threaten to wake your firstborn.

Pacifier: 1st baby: If the pacifier falls on the floor, you put it away until you can go home and wash and boil it.
2nd baby: When the pacifier falls on the floor, you squirt it off with some juice from the baby's
bottle.
3rd baby: You wipe it off on your shirt and pop it back in.

Diapering:
1st baby: You change your baby's diapers every hour, whether they need
it or not.
2nd baby: You change their diaper every two to three hours, if needed.
3rd baby: You try to change their diaper before others start to complain about the smell or you see it sagging to their knees.

1st baby: You take your infant to Baby Gymnastics, Baby Swing, and Baby Story Hour.
2nd baby: You take your infant to Baby Gymnastics.
3rd baby: You take your infant to the supermarket and the dry cleaner.

1st baby: The first time you leave your baby with a sitter, you call home five times.
2nd baby : Just before you walk out the door, you remember to leave a number where you can be reached.
3rd baby: You leave instructions for the sitter to call only if she sees blood.

2nd baby: You spend a bit of everyday watching to be sure your older child isn't
squeezing, poking, or hitting the baby
3rd baby: You spend a little bit of every day hiding from the children.

Swallowing Coins:
1st child: When first child swallows a coin, you rush the child to the hospital and demand x-rays. 2nd child: When second child swallows a coin, you carefully watch for the coin to pass.
3rd child: When third child swallows a coin, you deduct it from his allowance!

Dilemma

The only picture I could find with the jeans

As I sit here writing this post I anxiously look out the door observing that the box for ARC (used household items for donation) has not been picked up yet. I am considering putting something in there that might get me in trouble :) You see Wynden dresses really great when he goes to work. Usually a button up shirt with a tie, but he'll coordinate really well and looks nice when it comes to this look. Non work attire is not so great. Mostly because of a pair of hideous Wrangler jeans. They are not the Wranglers you would see on a cowboy (skin tight you wonder how they got them on), but rather a looser fit that are a light stone wash in color. I hate these jeans they look so old school. They are not flattering at all. I don't necessarily want him wearing jeans with designs on the back pockets, just a normal pair of jeans is all I ask for. I actually laugh at him when he wears them, but it doesn't even faze him. Well I guess I will have to wait until next month...the ARC truck just left without the jeans.

Answered Prayers

Wednesday started out a little different than normal when the phone rang at 5:15 am. My mom and dad were on their way to Vancouver, Washington when their ride's vehicle broke down in Bow Hill. They called to see if Wynden could rescue them and drive them the rest of the way and so he did after rearranging his schedule a little and talking on the phone the whole way down and back. I was awake pretty early by myself and so I was folding clothes. It was so quiet :) I felt an overwhelming sense that I needed to pray. Thinking for sure it was for husband and my parent's safety. As usual I prayed for my children's safety as well.

It was my day to drive for preschool, so I picked up our carpool and headed to Bellingham. I dropped the girls off and went to Costco and Walmart (for a much needed car battery). When I got back to preschool a scary car situation occurred and it could have been really bad in a lot of different ways. The first thing I thought of when I ran to make sure everyone was OK was that prayer. I thought about it the whole day to be honest with you. I even made it a lesson for the kids as I told them the story, reminding them how important it is to say our prayers. I usually don't get all sappy on here, but I really wanted to share this experience with you. I can't stop thinking about it. I am so grateful for answered prayers.
