End of the School Year Fun

Well we have been quite busy these past few weeks with end of the school year field trips, concerts, and a field day to celebrate the end of school. I went to the museum and park with Lexi's class, Wynden went to the high school barn and park with Hunter's class, I also went to the skating rink with Lexi's class. Then yesterday I helped with field day during school and we went last night for the family fun part of it. I am glad that school is over and we can relax for a couple days at least :) I have so many things I want to do this summer I hope the weather cooperates for me.

The new cell phone law...what were they smoking?

The other night Wynden and I were watching the news and they had a thing on about the new cell phone law that goes into effect today. The reporter was explaining it in great detail. Apparently if you have a hearing aid and you get pulled over you can not be given a citation, you are allowed to talk on your cell phone. Of course emergency calls are permitted, but my definition of emergency might be different than theirs. For example, the babysitter called and Hunter is fighting with his sisters and I needed to yell at him or I'm on my way to Bellingham, I have time to get a pedicure, my feet need one desperately, and I need to make an appointment asap. Last part of the law and most interesting is if the cell phone is being held up to your chin (like most of us hold it when on speaker phone), this is ok too, you just can't hold it up to your ear. So the new law covers three inches from your chin to your ear. These three inches are sure to prevent accidents don't you think. I actually laughed out loud when they said chin talking is ok, but not ear. My dad explained that this is because of CBs. I'm so proud of our leaders in Olympia to have come up with such a genius law.

Expensive Taste

Everyone who knows Wynden knows he is a cheap man. My birthday, Christmas, and Mother's Day presents always consist of an item already purchased that he'll say oh that was your present or two of our vehicles have been "my presents" even though he has ended up driving them. I am spoiled rotten though and usually get and have everything I could ever dream of.

We have gone on a few driving trips by ourselves and with Wynden's brothers. He won't let any of us drive for very long. He doesn't trust us. He had driven all night once and his brother Jonathan got behind the wheel and he had to keep one eye open and then finally when he fell asleep, he would wake every time Jonathan changed lanes, braked, or anything and start yelling at him to be more careful. Every time I have to drive his new truck he'll be like "be very very careful please"

Ok, ok I'm getting to my point I just needed to lay the ground work for the rest of my story. A few years ago I get a call from him and he says I just rear ended a car. I'm like oh no. He felt awful. Besides the fact that he knew the person and she was injured, she was driving her Mercedes. I'm sure our insurance just loved us. Yesterday he came home from work, we talked for a while and finally he said that his day was good, but would have been better if he would not have backed into a car. His truck was fine, but the BMW was not. I was like wow. You just need to take out a jaguar, and a Ferrari and then I will be impressed.

Farmers Day Parade, bloopers and all

Windermere had an entry this year in the parade and they used my dad's antique truck. It was great weather - shocking I know. Wynden didn't open the candy bags before it started, so in the middle of it he was trying to get one open and the whole thing busted open spilling out over half of the Costco sized bag of candy onto the street. He tried to start picking it up, but kids swarmed him. A good lesson learned for next time.

I'm afraid they get it from me...

The other night Hallie walked up to me and showed me some brown stuff on her hands. Oh great was my first reaction yours too I'm sure, but much to my relief she informed me it was from the granola bar she just ate. I wash her hands and then notice the brown stuff running out of her nose (my kids have had runny noses for over a month now). I'm like Hallie what is in your nose and as I'm wiping it and trying to have her blow it I am figuring it out. She stuck a chocolate chip up her nose. Why? She had no answer for me. But then I started thinking what is it with sticking foreign things up your nose. It's bad enough that our kids will pick their noses at the worst possible moments, but the things besides their little fingers that they put up there is amazing.

When Karlee was two, we were into beading (still are of course). The beading I am referring to is you put a bead on a peg board type thing and then iron them to all stick together (thanks to the Millers we have been doing this on a regular basis for about 5 years now). Karlee was quite young to be doing something that requires a steady hand, but she loved it. One night the kids were beading and Wynden and I were just sitting in the chairs and Karlee turns to me and says "I put a bead up my nose" Alrighty then, let's get it out. Well if you know Karlee you know then that all of her features are very petite and getting that bead out was next to impossible. We could see it and just almost get it out with tweezers, but that was it almost. We tried everything tweezers, a nose sucker bulb, blowing her nose, nothing worked. Madrona's after hours care couldn't get it out either. We had to go to a specialist the next day. After spraying a relaxing spray up her nose he pulled it right out. She got to pick out a bouncy ball for being so cooperative. I like to think that the ball cost me almost $300.00 because it was termed "surgery" for the visit. Yes we still have that ball.

Why would I think that they get this from me. Well my nickname for awhile when I was a kid was tape nose. I don't know if I am ready to share the story :), but let's just say scotch tape a little too far up my nose, some big tears, one huge blow, and tape ball across the room. My sisters never let me live this down. Every guy that I ever dated or thought of dated heard this story. I'm pretty sure that all their other bad habits and quirks come from Wynden though.

Happy Tuesday to you!

We had a great three day weekend. Lexi has plenty to write about for her weekend news writing assignment I'm sure.

-Favorite thing we did this weekend: Bellingham Slam game yesterday (after Diesel and Karlee fell asleep of course)

-What I am compulsive about today: Wynden's caramel popcorn he made yesterday. 1/2 of the bowl down only 1/2 left, estimated completion time: 2 hours.

-What I'm still laughing about: Any Bachalorette fans out there? Last weeks episode where Shooter revealed a little too early why he is nicknamed that. No rose for you.

-What I'm still confused about: We went to Red Robin yesterday around 4:00 and there was no waiting list of course, but we had waited for about 20 minutes while the slowest host ever was supposedly setting up our table, during which Diesel fell off the arcade car and gave himself a black eye. I see her seating two couples that came in separately after us and all the while I am thinking what is taking so long we have a game to get to. So I walk up to her and say is there a reason this is taking so long and she's like well it is a shift change for us right now and my manager is doing a game plan for the night with all the night staff waiters and so I will seat you when that is over...Really did she think that I would be like ok well when you guys are ready I will just continue to occupy our nine kids here that are hungry (Darin and his family were with us). NO. I usually don't say a whole lot, but I couldn't let this go so I say well I guess you can tell your manager that our game plan is to leave if you don't get us seated right away, so we don't miss our game. Let's just say that we were sat right away :) The manager came over to make sure everything was ok he didn't really apologize and he didn't offer anything free so I don't think that he felt very bad about it. Oh well I love Red Robin so I will let it go ...eventually.

-What I am smiling about: Hallie's made you look game she just played on me about a spider.

-What I am confused about: How I made the font italicize by accidentally pushing the wrong key.

-What I am grateful for: soccer and fastpitch seasons are over. What this means is we won't be living at Bender Fields for a while anyway. We were there four days a week for the last two months. I am so proud of Lexi though. She has always been too shy to play and she played soccer and fastpitch overcoming her fears. (Of course I'm grateful for my kids too)
