The fishing derby

A couple weekends ago Lynden held its annual fishing derby. Growing up we went every year for a while. My kids have never gone, so when my sister volunteered to take Hunter and Lexi I said sure that would be fun for them. I took Hallie and Karlee to watch. Hunter and Lexi had a good time. Hunter caught two fish and Lexi caught one. I will admit it made me sad when they caught the fish and they would flop around in the bucket or on the ground and then watching everyone smack them to kill them...I am clearly a little hormonal still :)

Father's Day a week late

This year we had Father's Day at our house with my family. Usually my sister Tiffany is the hostess with the mostess, but I think she needs a break, so I will take over the role for a while. We BBQed steaks and of course had way too much food, but it was good, so no complaints. I love these pictures. Hallie was so cute sitting with my dad while he opened his card. Then Mylon, my brother in law, snuck a nap in (the man can sleep through anything). And of course Wynden got a nap too, although he will deny it if you ask, but he snores so the proof is loud and clear :)

This week went flying by. We spent some time at the park on Tuesday. Then on Wednesday, Wynden, Diesel, and I went to Seattle overnight (Wynden is on the MLS board so they pay for him to stay at the Bellevue Country Club the night before their meeting each month) We had a great time. We ate at the Cheesecake factory with Jonathan, Blake, Adam, and Suzanne (who by the way looks amazing) and Pf Changs; my two favorite restaurants. On Thursday, Wynden went to his meeting while Diesel and I ordered room service for breakfast and just relaxed in the room until he got done with his meeting. It was very relaxing so thanks to Laura, my mom and dad, and Kaitlyn for helping with the kids so we could have a great getaway. Enjoy the pics!

ps. Jennifer if you're out there tell Dante that Hunter tells me all the time how much he misses Dante.

so sad...

Any Jon and Kate plus eight fans out there? It made me sad last night to learn that they are getting a divorce. I am really mad at Jon. Did he always have those earrings or are they part of his new and exciting lifestyle I never noticed them before. I hate it when parents are selfish. To me Kate has always been Kate, but Jon is the one who has changed. He claims he's there for his kids...if he really were there for his kids he would get along with his wife and not other women. I know it takes two but I see a lot lately parents who are putting there own needs before there children and it makes me so mad.

I guess if I were to show a picture of what we've been doing this first week of no school it would be of a tooth. Yesterday Lexi went to the dentist for two fillings and today Hunter went to the Dentist to get one pulled, two crowns, and one filling. Growing up I had horrible teeth. Every baby tooth had a filling. At one point when I had lost all my baby teeth, not one tooth had any silver on it, but it didn't take long and now every tooth has a filling. I was told that I had sensitive teeth that were susceptible to cavities. One might question my dental hygiene-I do floss and brush more than the average Joe (no pun intended Dad). I had braces for three years and every accessory that goes along with them (retainers, rubber bands, and yes even head gear) My parents had pretty good teeth, they never had to have braces, but all three sisters and myself did. I guess I hoped it would skip a generation, but it does not look that way (look at Lexi's teeth if you don't believe me) Wynden also has the so called sensitive teeth issue. He's had more root canals than I've had babies, if you can believe that one :) I will admit Wynden and I have a hard time spending money on the dentist, that is why Hunter had to have a heavily decayed tooth pulled out. We just got dental insurance so now I don't feel so bad (maybe for the insurer). Anyway I just want to thank my parents for all the money they put into my mouth I do appreciate it and hopefully someday my kids will too.

I am lovin' this weather

*The weather here in Whatcom County this week has been hotter than in Miami, Florida if you can believe that. *I feel sorry for the pregnant women out there (I am very happy that I am not). *The Easter bunny brought us a slip and slide and the kids are loving it. *On Sunday we had a picnic out at Birch Bay. *Life is Good :)

Holy cow!

Did I forget to mention that we actually did get two cows a few weeks ago. After Wynden and Hunter were at the cow auction for an entire Saturday, they came home with a mom and a baby. This seriously made Hunter the happiest kid in the entire world. He will talk your ear off about how he wants to be a farmer when he gets older and he actually knows how many of each animal he will have on his farm :) The kids named the cows. The mom is named Sadie (that was our girl name, but we got a Diesel) and the calf's name is Riley. Funny story is we thought the calf was a boy at first so Hunter named him Dennis to fit in with him and Diesel, but one day Wynden realized that the part they thought was a boy part was not and that is how we got Riley. If you ask the kids why we got cows they will simply tell you to eat them. Actually we got them partially to help keep the grass in our fields down, but they are not doing that great of a job. Wynden has such bad allergies that he has a hard time mowing the fields. Looks like we need to get more cows.
